Walden Media has confirmed to The Christian Post that the Narnia 4 movie will be 'The Magician's Nephew,' not 'The Silver Chair' as originally speculated by many fans. 'We are starting to talk to Fox and talk to the C.S. Lewis estate now about the Magician's Nephew being our next film,' said Michael Flaherty, co-founder and president of Walden Media the date has not yet been set. That was in 2011. At this point, the contract Walden Media had with C.S. Lewis's estate has expired. They were estimating the movie would be out in 2014, but without the involvement of Walden Media, the story is up for any producer to utilize.
The Narnia franchise has been in limbo for some time, but new details have come to light that reveals when fans can expect a new addition to the series. Thanks to what seems to be an unearthed press release from Sony (), The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair will be a talent filled affair. In in the director's chair, the film will also feature the talents of Oscar-nominated production designer Andy Nicholson (Gravity), Oscar-winning designer Jacqueline West (The Revenant), and Oscar-nominated composer Thomas Newman (Skyfall). Johnston's will also be working with Robert Dalva and Shelly Johnson, who both worked with him on Captain America: The First Avenger. Nina Gold and Theo Park of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Paddington fame respectively, are acting as casting directors for the project. The release also reveals when The Silver Chair will start shooting, currently pegged for November.

We’re hoping to be able to make the movie very shortly. We’re very excited about it. However, it seems that the next film won’t be a sequel at all, but the start of a new franchise entirely. Given the plot of The Silver Chair, the fourth book in the series, which takes places decades in future from where we last saw our heroes in 2010’s Voyage of the Dawn Treader, I also asked if we would see any of the original cast reprising their roles in the new film.
